Trading & Technical Analysis Glossary.

Clear, comprehensive definitions of technical terms, order flow concepts, volume profiles, and algorithmic execution models.

Point of Control (POC)

Volume Analysis

The exact price level at which the greatest amount of trading volume occurred during a specified lookback period. In the Impulse Heatmap, an Adaptive Smoothed POC line dynamically tracks price action to identify fair value equilibrium and institutional support/resistance.

Repainting Indicator

Technical Risk

A trading script that alters, recalculates, or shifts historical buy/sell signals retroactively based on future price information (lookahead bias). Repainting indicators create deceptive backtest results that cannot be replicated in live market conditions.

Non-Repainting Indicator

Algorithm Architecture

An indicator where signals are calculated and committed permanently to chart state at the exact moment a candlestick closes (barstate.isconfirmed). Once confirmed, the signal is immutable and will never change or disappear.

Volume Heatmap

Order Flow

A visual overlay that displays transactional volume concentration directly on the candlestick chart using color gradient intensity bands (green for high buying volume, red for high selling volume), revealing institutional accumulation and distribution zones.

Liquidity Sweep (Stop Hunt)

Market Structure

A sharp price spike beyond a key support or resistance high/low designed to trigger clustered retail stop losses. Institutional market makers use this liquidity to fill large order blocks before reversing price in the intended direction.

Loss Recovery System

Risk Management

A mathematical position sizing and risk-to-reward methodology engineered to recoup drawdown sequences using high-expectancy trade setups without doubling down or emotional tilt.

Value Area (VAH & VAL)

Volume Profile

The range of price levels where approximately 70% of total trading volume occurred during a lookback period. The top boundary is the Value Area High (VAH), and the bottom boundary is the Value Area Low (VAL).
